How Is Your Church Etiquette?

The Gospel according to St. John (John 2:13-16) tells us that Jesus chased the money changers from the Temple.  Jesus is telling us to have respect for Him in His house.

Is it appropriate to socialize with friends in church prior to mass?  ...more

Won't you join in and pledge?
It's interesting how the words of St Pius X, "Renew All Things In Christ" can be applied to the 50 year renovation project we've recently embarked upon. If you're one of our year-round parishioners you've seen the progress first-hand and I know you will agree with me that it's going to be the most beautiful church in the country.

Picture walking into Sunday Mass on beautiful slate flooring with accent carpeting, surrounded by solid marble walls. Our beautiful new surroundings will not only be a testament to our love for Jesus but a test of our commitment to Him that created us.  It's through your generous nature that we were able to begin this program and it's with your usual continued support that we will be able to complete it.

Our Memorial Brick Garden has been a wonderful memorial not only for our parish but for everyone whose name is embossed for posterity. Many of our parishioners have been seen enjoying the Florida sun while praying the rosary before Mass in the garden.  It's a great place to meditate. If you haven't already done your part won't you take the time to become a part of our parish by donating a memorial brick?

Catholic Vote on Marriage & Family: Much to Cheer About
Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on the role Catholics played in securing marriage and family rights in the election:

“Were it not for Catholics, the institutions of marriage and the family would have taken a hit in places like Arizona, Florida and California. Indeed, in Florida and California, their vote proved to be decisive.

“Arizonians rejected gay marriage by a vote of 56% to 49%, though the margin among Catholics was less—51% to 49%. In Florida, the Catholic vote proved to be controlling: overall, the ban on gay marriage won by 62% to 38%, but among Catholics it was 66% to 34%. Californians narrowly defeated gay marriage by a margin of 52% to 48%, but Catholics rejected it by an impressive 60% to 40% differential. A vote in California to support parental notification lost by 52% to 48%, but it won among Catholics by a hefty 58% to 42%.  con'td

What Will You Say?
When the time comes what will you tell Jesus when he asks if you supported life and did everything possible to save His children against the evil of abortion?

* Will you have to tell him that you voted for abortion just to better your personal bank account?

* Will
you have to say that you felt that abortion wasn't as bad as the Iraq war so you voted for it?

* Will you have to admit to Him that you didn't exercise your Catholic voting duty?
* Will you have to tell Him that you voted for abortion because you didn't want to force your morals on others?

According to Catholic teaching it's clear that abortion is against the laws of God-it's intrinsically evil. Nothing could be clearer; there is no gray area.

Since Rowe vs. Wade there have been over 50 million aborted human beings. We are missing their their smiles, laughter, friendship, and their contribution to society in many ways.  Did you vote for life?

God and the City
When was the last time you visited Holiday Park and the War Memorial Center?  I had the opportunity to go there a week ago and much to my surprise there, in front of the building, stood a beautiful marble replica of the ten commandments. The monument is sponsored by the City of Ft. Lauderdale and the Fraternal Order of Eagles and stands as a commitment to the glory of God.  We pray that more cities across or great land will do the same.  Congrats!
